Week 32 - White on White

This week's challenge was white on white. This was a hard challenge for me. I couldn't come up with a good subject that I really liked. The challenge was not a black and white challenge, but instead the subject had to be white and the background had to be white. This week's focus is about texture, shadow, light and composition. About seeing form and shape, and about understanding that there are many, many shades of white.

I initially started with the cow. I saw it at the store and thought it was so cute, its actually a creamer dish. Then I tried pouring milk into the cow and shot a gazillion shots and hated every single one. The concept was good, but the implementation was just not there. My original idea had been eggs in a ceramic basket, but the basket was horrendous looking and I couldn't style the shot properly. So I opted for both the cow and the eggs.

I made a homemade scrim out of foam core board with the middle cut out. I then used gaffers tape to tape some parchment paper on both sides - double infused - for a nice soft light. I think it gave the eggs nice definition and separated them from the background nicely.
